Georgetown University is looking for young leaders in the public, private and non-profit sectors with a concern for social issues in their country and leadership experience and savvy.

Georgetown University’s Global Competitiveness Leadership Program (GCL) is a one-of-a-kind fellowship dedicated to promoting a new generation of socially responsible, innovative and ethical leaders in the Ibero-American region. The GCL Program awards young leaders with a full scholarship to participate in a 12-week program at Georgetown University where they learn about political, corporate, nonprofit and personal leadership. Founded in 2007, the program has impacted almost 250 fellows to date.

The GCL Program has a strong emphasis on personal development and provides a life-changing experience which promotes a tight knit and dynamic network of leaders.

Social Impact
An important component that sets apart the GCL Program is that fellows develop a project while at Georgetown to be carried out in their home countries. These projects promote the program’s focus on action and aim to produce a multiplier effect to expand the reach of the GCL program throughout the region.

Objectives
• Promote leadership in action – Teach tools to tackle challenges that exist throughout the region, training them to create and lead initiatives that promote democratic rule of law, civic responsibility, and cross-sector collaborations.
• Personal Development – Facilitate interactions and discussions that will help participants challenge, reflect and expand their world view.
• Teach methodologies to overcome challenges – Enable participants to understand barriers that impede development in their countries through multidisciplinary courses with a focus on the economic, social and political aspects of competitiveness and integral development.
• Create a strong regional network – Generate a network of responsible and ethical leaders across all sectors that will make a positive impact in their countries and the broader region through collaboration and interchange.
