Guyana's Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Bayney Karran who has been in competition with the Belize’s Permanent Representative to the OAS Nestor Mendez has lost the election for the position as the next Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of America States.
Ambassador Karran received 10 votes and Ambassador Mendez, 24 votes from the member states.
Ambassador Mendez will succeed Assistant Secretary General Albert Ramdin on July 12.
