Ann Fung, Nee Bowen: April 8th 1941 - Nov 7, 2022

Ann Fung, Nee Bowen

Ann Fung, also known as granny, Annie, Aunty Annie or just Ann. Born and raised in Charlestown, Georgetown, Guyana on April 8th 1941 to parents Percis Helena and James Arthur St Clair Bowen.

Ann began working as a teenager at the famed "Bettencourt's" store in Georgetown and retired many years later from "Simpsons" in Toronto. Ann was stylish and loved being creative. She was well known for her macrame bags, ceramics, flower arrangements, etc. However, she was especially well known for her cakes and cake decorating through the years. In addition, she loved her husband's hobby of photography and was frequently captured via his camera lenses. She was not afraid of voicing her opinion and even joined in picketing the Treasury back in the 60s (where Benjie worked). Whatever she took to doing she did with gusto and was frustrated when sidelined by arthritis that limited her abilities.

Ann was very proud of her grandchildren and their chosen career achievements. In spite of everything she might have been experiencing, she always closed a phone call with an I love you. Ann is survived by her beloved spouse Benjamin Fung, to whom she was married on Nov 11 1967 and passed away in his arms on Nov 7, 2022, at their home. She is also survived by their only child, Natalie Ann. Her grandchildren Zaria (Ron), Magdalen, Anderson and Rachel.
Ann was also the niece of David Pherai, the late Doris Pherai Bernard, Boris Bowen, Whiston Bowen, Jenny (Imogen) Bowen Forde and Philly Bowen and Lucille and Sybil Smith. Sister of James Bowen, Gyneth Sobers, Martin Bowen and the late Carl and the late George Bowen. Sister-in-law of Corinne Bowen, Claudette Bowen, Louisa Mohamed, Pamela Koge and the late Millicent Bowen, Alston Sobers, Elaine Williams, Olga Pereira, Vernon Fung, Frederick Fung, George Fung, Patrick Fung and Albert Fung. Aunt of many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and numerous grand nieces and nephews. Cousin of the Bowens, Pherais, Cholmondeleys, Craigs, Blydens, Niles, Fordes and Smiths.
