Bartica Regatta racing Champion injured in motorcycle accident

Belle's Bike

Bartica Regatta power boat racing champion, Conan Belle, Monday evening sustained serious injuries when the CBR motorbike he was riding slammed into a quantity of old iron in the gold mining township.

The 23-year old Belle, in an unconscious condition, was up to late Monday night being transported in a speedboat to Parika from where he would be transported by road to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. It is unclear whether a domestic plane could have been made available to air-dash him to the city.

Residents said that Belle failed to make the turn at the corner or First Street and Seventh Avenue, crashing into a pile of scrap iron on the shoulder of the road.

He was not wearing a helmet.

Belle, whose father owns Zen’s Hotel in Bartica, suffered head injuries and a broken arm and leg.
