Dr. Stephen Carryl

Dr. Stephen Carryl - Stephen S. Carryl, MD is Founder and President of the Overseas Medical Assistance Team (OMAT), a nonprofit humanitarian organization formed in 1992. Dr. Carryl has led OMAT on humanitarian trips to Haiti, Grenada, St. Lucia, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Guyana and Botswana, Africa.

Currently the Chairman of Surgery at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Carryl is a graduate of Oakwood College (1984), Huntsville, Alabama and Loma Linda University School of Medicine (1998), Loma Linda, California.

He served previously as an attending general surgeon at Brookdale University Medical Center, Associate Director of the Department of Surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital and as Director of the Department of Surgery at The Brooklyn Hospital Center/Caledonian Hospital.

Dr. Carryl was featured in the February 2007 issue of The Network Journal. He has received numerous awards for his humanitarian work and for professional excellence. He was named one of America’s Top Surgeons by the Consumers Research Council of America. His vision is to foster consistent medical assistance to marginalized populations through volunteerism.
