Guyanese Wayne Forde counters the PPP Government’s claim of Guyana’s progress.

Mr. Wayne Forde

Mr. Wayne Forde, a Guyanese-American who is passionate about the socio-economic conditions in his homeland, produced another video challenging the PPP’s claim of the progress they have made in Guyana.

The video titled “Change We Can Embrace“ mentions that with President Donald Ramotar’s proclamation (prorogation of Parliament) Guyana is now a de facto Dictatorship.

Mr. Forde also highlighted the threats made by Guyana’s attorney General to Kaieteur News, one of Guyana’s media houses and the Chinese company Bai Shai Lin fleecing of Guyana’s natural resources. He went on to highlight the US$300 million wasted in the Skeldon Sugar Estate debacle.

Forde identified statistics that show Guyana’s unemployment rate is 22% and the country has the highest rate of suicide in the world, along with highest rate of murder in the region.

He highlights that Guyana’s debt reduction of over US$2 Billion was not achieved by policies of the PPP government but was achieved though forgiveness initiatives of foreign governments and organizations, for the  PPP led government to use the savings in poverty reduction and social services, and he asks “where the money go?”.

Mr. Ramotar had said some time ago that it was the policies of the government that warded off the global economic crisis in Guyana. Forde countered that the over US$2 billion in debt reduction, an assortment of aid from numerous organizations, zero interest loans from the World Bank, the US$450 million plus in remittances and, the substantial narco-trafficking revenue, were among the many reasons why Guyana was not affected by the world economic crisis.

Mr. Forde went on to say that “Guyana did not have the tools to play in the efficient financial markets, and so it was not fiscal or monetary policy that averted a crisis it was default and not design….”

In the video Forde asks for restoration of democracy and for reform of the constitution so that prorogation could never happen again and for all Guyanese to seek change.
