Guyana Drops Slightly on the Corruption Perceptions Index for 2015

Transparency International

For the year 2015 Guyana declined to 29 out of 100 and ranked 119 out of 167 countries in the Corruption Perception Index by Transparency International. In 2014 Guyana scored 30 and ranked 124 out of 175 countries.

Based on expert opinion, the Corruption Perceptions Index measures the perceived levels of public sector corruption worldwide.

On the map below dark red indicates a highly corrupt public sector. Lighter red and orange countries fare a bit better by perception, but corruption among public institutions and employees is still common. Yellow countries are perceived as less corrupt, but not perfect.

The scale of the issue is huge. Sixty-eight per cent of countries worldwide have a serious corruption problem. Half of the G20 are among them.

Not one single country, anywhere in the world, is corruption-free.
