On Tuesday May 9, 1967 the arrival in Guyana of a 19 seater DHC-6 Twin Otter turbo-prop aircraft, 8R-GCP, a gift from the Government of Canada, signaled a new era of aviation for Guyana Airways Corporation.

Over the span of 25 years beginning in 1962 Robert Dornford's unrelenting efforts contributed to the rise of Guyana Airways Corporation (GAC). His intellectual prowess and tenacity guided then British Guiana Airways from the era of the Grumman Goose to a competitive airline (GAC) with modern advanced jet aviation equipment, technology, and skillful personnel that was the envy of the Caribbean.

I have had some memorable moments in my life, I shook the hands of several presidents (including of the USA) and their wives, but one of the most memorable moments I will cherish is the one in which I spent time breaking bread with the legends of the aviation industry and engineering of Guyana, who made history with their contribution across the world.

Pan-Am celebrates 50 years of service to Guyana

It was January 06, 1930 when the first Pan-Am amphibian aircraft landed on the Demerara River linking Miami, USA with Georgetown, Guyana by air.

Also on that day Donald Bradman (who later became Sir Donald Bradman) in the Sheffield Shield Series scored 452 not out for NSW (New South Wales) against Queensland at Sydney. His score took 415 minutes with 49 fours

All ASL plane crash passengers discharged from Hospital. Medical Bills to date total in excess of $3 million dollars

Esther Williams from Baramita and Urmella Rajesh from Berbice both of whom underwent surgery for fractured facial bones were the last 2 passengers to be discharged from the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital last Saturday. They are scheduled for a follow-up visit this Thursday, 25 July 2013 with Dr. Abalberto Fernandes. They are staying with relatives in Mocha, EBD and Enmore, ECD respectively.

More that 4000 aircraft or aerospace vehicles in various state of disassembly at the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center (AMARG), also known as the "Bone Yard."

AMARG, previously known as AMARC, the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center), is a joint service facility managed by the US Air Force Material Command located in the city of Tucson, Arizona, USA.

22 year old woman struck and killed by the propeller of a light aircraft

A 22 year old woman was killed yesterday after coming into contact with the propeller of a light aircraft at the Ekereku bottom airstrip in Region Seven. The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCCA) officials were travelling to the area today to cnduct an investigation.

The aircraft involved in the incident was a Cessna 172 and the deceased person was identified by the as Raquel Joseph.
