On Monday, June 25, 2018, Guyanese born Kwasi Ayodele Fraser was sworn in to his third term as Mayor of Purcellville, Virginia, USA. In attendance were the Mayor’s wife Angela and their children, his parents, Mr. Fitz and Mrs. Doris Fraser, his uncle Guyanese inventor and educator Lyndon Barton and his wife, Olive Barton and numerous other family and well-wishers.

The event started at 6:00 pm in an almost full Purcellville Town Hall with a Boys Scout Honor Guard and Pastor Alphonso Irving leading a prayer for the elected officials and the community.

Refreshments were served and friends and family members retreated to the home of Mayor Fraser for further celebrations.

Purcellville is a small town which lies west of Washington, DC. It has a population of just under ten thousand people over a land mass of 3.1 square miles. Mayor Fraser heads a town council of 7 members. The mission of the council states “As stewards worthy of community trust, we work to discern, define, and implement an agenda to nurture and preserve our residents’ quality of life. Through Town Council policies and leadership, we foster an open, cooperative, and admired model government that encourages full public participation and ensures the level of services our citizens expect and deserve.”
