Musing – Walking-up at the Drive-thru

McDonald's

While out on an errand I visited my local MacDonald’s for my quarterly infusion of guilty pleasures.

I placed my order at the drive up location and was told to proceed to window 1 where I paid for my purchase.  With one vehicle ahead of me at the food pick up line, I began the slow roll towards the second window and then stopped.

I noticed a lady walking up to the front of the vehicle at the second window and she made a halfhearted attempt to squeeze between the vehicle and building to get to the drive-thru window.

That attempt unsuccessful, she  decided to walk between the first vehicle and my car to access the window. Noting her actions I decided to wait for her to accomplish her mission. The other vehicle drove off and I continued to waited, not moving to allow the customer on foot to access the window with no interference from my car.  During her transaction at the food pick up window she pointed in my direction and the staff looked out at me. The customer then walked away, bag with goodies in hand.

Curious of course when I rolled up to the window I asked the server what had transpired. She told me the customer ”wanted to know why you weren’t driving up to the window”.  I smiled, and responded “with her blocking my path, I may be good but not that good.” The McDonald's staff laughed and said “you’re so right.’

This is an interesting world with interesting people.
