The National Assembly debates whether motion from Leader of the Opposition David Granger, to 'Condemn the killing of and the injury to several persons at Linden upper Demerara-Berbice Region, on Wednesday, 18th July 2012 and to demand the resignation of Hon. Clement Rohee MP Minister of Home Affairs.' should be debated on today's sitting...Government says House should not debate today... Opposition says let's do this now as a matter of urgent public interest.

The Speaker of the House adjourns Parliament for 20 minutes to consider presentations before making his ruling.

The National Assembly resumes its sitting and the Speaker of the House Raphael Trotman rules:
"It is my considered opinion that the concerned Minister and friends be given time to prepare a defense, I believe that the motion is properly before the House and that the ensuing debate can and will commence today."

Government M.P. Gail Texiera calls for a division of the House and a vote on the issue. Reports indicate that all of the Opposition M.P.s are present and 3 of the Government's M.P.s are absent.

The House votes 33 to 27 to debate the motion. The Speaker then moves another suspension and adjourns Parliament but I am unable to ascertain for what period of time.
