Security forces have cleared all road blocks leading into Linden and are currently at the Kara Kara bridge. They are also accompanied by the police water cannon.

Linden Update - July 28, 2012

The Office of the President regrets to inform the Linden community and the public that President Donald Ramotar, acting on the advice of the Heads of the Joint Services, has today postponed his planned Saturday, July 28, 2012 visit to Linden.

Residents blocking road

Security forces have removed logs which were blocking the Kara Kara Bridge but residents have resorted to using their bodies to block the progress of the front end loader being used in this exercise.

Some residents are sitting on the road, while others stand to physically stop the advance of the machinery.

Linden Protest

Following the President's demand for the roads to be cleared to facilitate his intended visit to Linden today, residents have clearly stated their refusal to clear the major block at the Kara Kara Bridge.

Update from Parliament

Parliament ends and is adjourned to its next sitting on Monday July 30th, 2012 with no vote on the motion to remove Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee and condemn the shooting of the three Lindeners.

More fallout from the deaths of the three Lindeners

The largest of the public meetings since the protest action began in Linden was addressed tonight by Lincoln Lewis, Dr. David Hinds and Regional Chairman Sharma Solomon, who all urged a continuation of the current course of actions until demands being made of the Government are met.

Senior Police sources are reporting this evening that Policemen are to be charged for the murder of the 3 Lindeners. This comes on the heels of today's post mortem examination which revealed that the men were all shot with live rounds. The charges could come before the end of this week or by early next week.
