She was the wife of the late Frank Stephenson, mother of Orin Douglas (Pollenetta), Christina Stephenson George (Jermaine), Sherwin Stephenson (Shundel), Laurela Stephenson (Pete London), and George Stephenson (Tyranna), and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Mrs. Christobel Hughes, the mother of Attorney-at-Law and Chairman of the Alliance For Change (AFC), Nigel Hughes has died.

Mrs. Hughes who was in her 80s, was a passenger in a car that was involved in an accident on Saturday evening, died on Sunday at a local hospital.

Audrey Pauline Thorne transitioned into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 2, 2015. Audrey was born on October 20, 1918 to proud parents Iris Lord O'Dell and Arthur Paul O'Dell in Mahaica, Guyana, South America.

Sadly, six weeks after her birth, Audrey's father, Paul, succumbed to the Spanish Flu along with many members of the O'Dell family. Upon her husband's death, Audrey's mother, Iris O'Dell, returned to the Lord family home where her doting grandfather, Edward Stanley Lord, Esq. became the influential male figure in Audrey's life.

George Flemming Jones, former U.S. Ambassador to Guyana whose career in the Foreign Service spanned almost 40 years, died April 20, 2015 in Fairfax, VA of a heart attack, he was 79 years old.

Mr. Jones, a specialist in Latin American affairs, served as U. S. Ambassador to the Republic of Guyana from January 1992 to August 1995.

John Henry McConey Jr. was born on October 23, 1945 in the Bronx, NY to John Sr. and Marian McConey. He was raised in the Edenwald Houses in the Bronx, with his 3 younger siblings. He graduated from DeWitt Clinton H.S. As a teenager, John was smitten by a beautiful young lady, Mable Carter. The couple married in 1964. They had 4 daughters, Robin, Jill, Melody, and Renee.

Albert (Zick) Eustace Isaacs died on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at age 73 in Ontario, Canada.

Albert was born in Guyana to the late Albert (Sr.) and Irma Isaacs, and was the brother of Yvette, Garth and the late Michael Isaacs.

Albert was a pilot at Guyana Airways, then immigrated to Canada in 1975.

Leslie Melville departed this life on Monday 9th February 2015 at his residence in Maryland, USA. 

Leslie Melville’s life was representative of a man of many roles, titles, and honor.  A nurturing and hardworking stalwart of the working class of Guyana, a respected public servant, devoted and world renowned Trade Unionist, true son and Patriot of Guyana.
