The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) today received presentations by the two candidates proposed by the member states for the position of Assistant Secretary General – the current Permanent Representatives of Guyana, Bayney Karran, and of Belize, Nestor Mendez-, in a special meeting that took place in Washington, DC.

Albert (Zick) Eustace Isaacs died on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at age 73 in Ontario, Canada.

Albert was born in Guyana to the late Albert (Sr.) and Irma Isaacs, and was the brother of Yvette, Garth and the late Michael Isaacs.

Albert was a pilot at Guyana Airways, then immigrated to Canada in 1975.

Mr Greg Quinn has been appointed British High Commissioner to the Co-operative Republic of Guyana in succession to Mr Andrew Ayre, who has been transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment.&

Charmayne Maxwell, better known as Maxee, member of the Grammy-nominated 1990s R&B group Brownstone died after a mysterious fall on Saturday February 28. She was 46 years old.
