Georgetown, October 27, 2014 – World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Guianas welcomes Guyana President Ramotar’s announcement of Norway’s 2012 calendar year performance-based payment into the Guyana REDD+ Investment Fund (GRIF).

The first annual Diwali celebration under the auspices of the Embassy of Guyana in Washington, DC, was held last Saturday at the Murugan Temple in Lanham, Maryland.

Many people have asked me why, despite their legislative majority, the opposition in Guyana have, since 2001, allowed the PPP ant its Executive Government to out-maneuver them. They are of course referring to the latest confusion surrounding the AFC-sponsored no-confidence vote. We now discover that it is the Executive Government and not the Speaker which has the power to convene parliament.

The risk of Ebola to the general public in the UK remains very low.

The recent outbreak of the Ebola virus primarily affects 3 countries in West Africa: Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. Around 7,500 cases and more than 3,500 deaths are suspected in West Africa, according to the World Health Organisation (3 October). This is the largest known outbreak of Ebola.
