Aircraft crashes in the Mazaruni area, crew found dead
A Trans Guyana Airways aircraft registration 8R-GHS, went missing on Saturday January 18, 2014 at around 10:56 am. The aircraft had taken off from Olive Creek airstrip located at the junction of the Kurupung and Mazaruni Rivers and was heading to Imbaimadai. Another aircraft in the vicinity reported to Air Traffic Control that they heard the distress transmission of the missing aircraft.

Guyana Graphic is creating a video about our “heroes” and we are soliciting nominations from the general public in celebration of the upcoming 44th anniversary of the Republic of Guyana.
The nominees are people who have made significant contributions to the greater good, putting the needs of others before themselves. They can come from a diverse spectrum, military, law enforcement, or civilian. They may be historical or current, and their contributions may be life saving physically or economically through job creation or resource providence. They may be heroes in the sports, entertainment, or in the classroom, but their contributions must have (had) a positive and inspirational impact on society. They must be worthy of special recognition for exemplary contributions.

Renowned Guyanese radio broadcaster, Terrence Ormonde Holder died earlier today at the age of 73 after an extended period of illness.
Holder began his broadcasting career at Guyana Broadcasting Service (GBS) in the 1960s. He became senior producer, then General Manager of the Guyana Broadcasting Corporation in the 1990s
Guyanese in Ghana jailed for 20 years in Cocaine Heist
A Ghanaian and his Guyanese accomplice have been handed prison terms of 15 and 20 years respectively for importing cocaine into Ghana.
The High Court in Accra which convicted Seth Grant, the Ghanaian and Miller Ronald O’Neil, his Guyanese accomplice and Captain of the Guyanese ship Atiyah, George-Town, aboard which the narcotic was seized, handed the sentences on the guilty pleas of the convicts.
