Guyana is neither an important regional nor offshore financial center. It continues to be a transshipment route for South American cocaine and heroin destined for the United States and for cash returning to South America. Smuggling of the precursors to methamphetamine is also a problem. Reportedly, the narcotics trade may be increasingly linked to arms trafficking involving Europe and the Western Hemisphere.

She died on July 2, 2013 in Silver Spring Maryland.

Brigadier David Granger Appeals Decision To Exclude Him From Budget Cuts Case

On the 25th June 2013, Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Brigadier David Granger, MP, caused his lawyers to file an appeal from the decision of the Honourable Chief Justice Ian Chang to exclude him as a Defendant in the Budget Cuts case Action No. 216/12-W of 2012, Demerara, to the Full Court of the Supreme Court of Judicature.

This episode has taken us all around the city of Georgetown assessing a few of our major environmental problems. The garbage buildup, drainage and the sewage seeping onto our streets and into our drains from a system designed 84 years ago. In part one the focus is on the problems we face, with part two starting to look at ways to return Georgetown to the Garden City.

Peppered with beatings, incest, drugs, and murder, this story of abuse sends us careening through the rages and indiscretions of a father, and provokes our own rage at a mother whose efforts were more to cover up her husband’s physical abuse, than they were to protect her children.

Over the years she has responded to that itch by writing about several issues that span several genres, from poetry to politics but has never felt the compulsion to publish, until faced with the social tragedy that is this story.
