I observe His Excellency, President Ali and the Hon Vice President growing increasingly impatient at some citizens, allowing their anger to cascade in public torrents.  I have a word for my two brothers: the greater their fury at not getting their way, the more they draw attention to themselves.  Their anger backfires.

Guyana is a country located in South America that has a rich cultural heritage, diverse geography, and abundant natural resources. Despite its potential, however, the country faces significant economic challenges that have prevented its people from realizing their full potential.

It was reported that during the evening of Friday, January 7, 2023, five police officers from the Memphis, Tennessee Police Department in the United States of America carried out a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Tyre Nichols. Disturbing video footage which was released on Friday, January 27, 2023, by the Memphis Police Department shows five police officers brutally assaulting Nichols who died three days later from the injuries he received during the encounter. 

Errol Ross Brewster is a Caribbean artist from Guyana, who has lived in Barbados, and is currently living in the United States. He was educated at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, Canada, and served as Director of Studies at the E. R. Burrowes School of Art in Guyana.

Patrick Alphonso Gonsalves was a Guyanese recording artist who was born on December 25, 1948 and died on December 25, 2022. Patrick or Pato as he was fondly referred to, was the 6th of eleven children, born to the late Dolly and Francisco Gonsalves of Plantation Ross, on the West Coast of Berbice.

According to a police press release, a 20-year-old security guard accidentally shot himself and a 15-year-old vendor, who was an innocent bystander, on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, on Robb Street in the vicinity of Bourda Market, Georgetown. It was further reported that the security guard told investigators that he took out the firearm, a Taurus 9mm pistol, from the waist of his pants to clear it when a shot accidentally went off. It was revealed that the security guard was not a Supernumerary Constable and therefore was not legally authorized to carry a firearm. He is alleged to have told the police that he was not trained to use a firearm and was employed by the security company two weeks before the incident.

Kurt Andre Fraser was born on Wednesday, June 15, 1977 in Anna Regina, Guyana to Fitz Herbert (Clyde) Fraser and Doris Monica Fraser (nee Philander). Kurt was the youngest of the Frasers’ biological children, and was viewed as one of the cutest babies, by one of his sisters.
