The Institute of Caribbean Studies (ICS) on Friday, January 15, 2021, received a briefing on recent developments concerning the Venezuela/Guyana border controversy, from officials of the Government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.

The briefing was conducted over the Zoom virtual platform.

There I was, on November 29, 2016, at the Plaza de la Revolucion in Havana for the State Funeral of Fidel Castro.

In the dim twilight of a setting sun, the intense voices of a million of mourners shattered the sad sky: “Yo Soy, Fidel!” “Yo Soy, Fidel!”

Today, truth triumphed.

From the outcome of the 2020 elections, one thing for me is very clear: the American people have rejected President Donald Trump who took his hapless party down with him in an avalanche of lies.

He lied about the deadly pandemic, his political opponents and even about his own integrity in public life.

Joan Leoline John who was born in Beterverwagting, Guyana, and resided in Hartford, Connecticut passed away on September 22, 2020.

Congratulations to you and the PPP/C on your victory in the 2020 elections.

Following a News Source Evening Bulletin on August 18, Federal Management Systems (FMS) responded through their local attorney to the use of images of FMS’s facilities in an article detailing the plight of Security workers who were not being paid on time. 

The dilemma of the March 2, 2020, general elections continues and may continue until September 2020. There have been allegations and evidence of fraud, a recount, a first and second round of court procedures, and a fairly patient community of predominantly Africans and East Indians. Guyana has a history of racial tension and violence between the two main ethnic groups.

My father was a lawyer and he refused murder cases as he said he could not defend someone who took the life of another. He refused drug cases for the same reason. So I cannot vote for the PPP Presidential candidate and the man who is likely to be the power behind the throne.
