Linden protest turns deadly as Police open fire on civillians
At least three persons were killed yesterday when police oppened fire on protesters in Linden.
Among the dead as confirmed by Linden hospital officials are:
• Selwyn Boyea, 18, of Wisroc Park
• Ron Somerset, 19;
• Allan Williams, 54, of Wisroc

A Partnership for National Unity (A.P.N.U.) unreservedly condemns the unprovoked police assault against unarmed, peaceful protesters. The Partnership has extended condolences to the relatives of the three men who were shot dead in Linden on Wednesday 18th July. More than two dozen other persons were injured, some of them seriously.
Tullow Oil stops drilling on its BP-like well at Jaguar-1 offshore Guyana
Drilling operations at the Jaguar-1 well in the Georgetown Block, Guyana, have ended and the well will be plugged and abandoned at a depth of 4,876 metres, without reaching the primary objective, according to a Tullow Oil press release.

Flight AF 447 on 1st June 2009 - A330-203, registered F-GZCP - Accident Final Report
During the night of Sunday 31 May to Monday 1st June 2009, the Airbus A330-203 registered F-GZCP operated by Air France crashed into the Atlantic Ocean. The aeroplane had taken off at 22 h 29 to undertake scheduled flight AF 447 between Rio de Janeiro Galeão and Paris Charles de Gaulle. 12 crew members (3 flight crew, 9 cabin crew) and 216 passengers, from thirty-two nationalities, were on board.
170 kilos of Toronto-bound cocaine seized at Saint John port
A total of 170 kilograms of cocaine was seized in two separate drug busts at the Port of Saint John, Canada Border Services Agency officials announced Friday.
The drugs have an estimated street value of more than $21 million, officials said.
